The Three Punctuations of a Kiss (Part II)

Autumn.Winter.2007 collection

French actress, dancer and singer Mistinguett once said: "A kiss can be a comma, a question mark or an exclamation point. That's basic spelling that every woman ought to know."

(Barcelona, Spain) February 1 st , 2007 - Today, yo.mi.mio released The Three Punctuations of a Kiss (Part II) for Autumn.Winter.2007, which will be available in shops beginning in August 2007.

The Three Punctuations of a Kiss (Part II) is a natural continuation of the Spring.Summer.2007 collection of the same name. Both collections mix cotton, satin, silk and gauze and feature a cinematic colour palette including black, white, stripes, grey, beige, silver, gold and hints of pink. The line includes bags, purses, mini-bags, scarves, belts, brooches and textile bracelets. Included in the range are what yo.mi.mio's Director Miranda Jelicié calls "colgies." The name 'colgy' comes from the Spanish verb, 'colgar' (to hang), as the accessories are meant to hang off of bags, scarves, belts, blouses, trousers, skirts, dresses and jackets.

Just as the Spring.Summer.2007 collection divided accessories into the three punctuations , its sibling collection does the same.

Under the comma. These are products that are ideal transitioning points from the day to evening. In order to create suitable products for both day and night time use, Jelicié mixes cotton with satin and organic silk. Examples include "Vivien," which features bands of intertwined cotton and satin with an organic silk back and Mistinguett, which combines durable cotton with an embroidered fringe.

The Question Mark. Products that represent the question mark are manifested in their visual form through the spirals found in the "Maki" bag. Using organic silk to create a crinkled-like circular paper effect, "Maki" provides an ideal method of interrogation. Similarly, the "colgy" creates a whole new question - what is the future of women's accessories?

The Exclamation Mark. yo.mi.mio achieves exclamation points by purveying contrasted colours and materials. For example, the small oval shaped "Alida" mixes tubes of cotton, satin and silk with chains and metal pieces to create a visually exclamatory message. In its exclamation, "Alida" forms a fusion between a necklace and mini-bag. Black trimming is directly contrasted with white in products such as "Katherine Viva" "Bette", "Greta II" and "Ginger." Furthermore, the "Brigitte" series of products creates an illusion of animal fur by using textured pieces of roughly cut silk and gauze sewn into cotton grooves.

Miranda Jelicié places a period on The Three Punctuations of a Kiss by saying: "In keeping with the ongoing spirit of making women that use our products feel like a movie star, I think the kiss is something every woman can relate with."
